For over 11 years, Kid One (www.kidone.org) has transported children and expectant mothers with little or no means of transportation to non-emergency healthcare services throughout Alabama, completely free of charge. Kid One takes children to surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and dialysis as well as physical therapy, dentist appointments, mental health counseling and routine checkups. Expectant mothers receive rides to prenatal and postnatal appointments throughout their pregnancy and for the first year of the baby's life. Kid One serves 30 Alabama counties and has provided transportation to more than 16,000 children and expectant mothers.
